Two toddlers were burnt to death in a house fire on a farm in the Tshipise area that occurred on Tuesday, 29 August.

According to information supplied by the police, both children, a 20-month-old baby and a three-year-old, were alone in their home on the farm Plaas Mount Stuart near Schuitdrift. The children were in the care of their mother when the fire broke out.

Limpopo police spokesperson Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the mother was not at her house. "She allegedly went to another house to cook food. While she was busy cooking, she heard neighbours screaming and calling her," said Ngoepe.

The woman found her house consumed by flames. Both children burnt to death.

"The cause of this fire is unknown but will be further investigated," said Ngoepe.
