Two of the five trial-awaiting suspects who escaped from the Vuwani police station's holding cells are still at large.

They are Moses Siganya Tshishonga (28) and Mushe Nemudzivhadi (23).

The escape took place on 3 June, when Vhutshilo Rambau (22), Thanyani Nevondo (28), Ashley Makumbe (28), Tshishonga and Nemudzivhadi allegedly escaped through a hole they had cut in the roof of the veranda.

The Vuwani police launched a manhunt for the escapees and Nevondo, Rambau and Makumbe were later re-arrested. They have already appeared in the Vuwani Magistrate's Court on a charge of escaping from lawful custody.

In court they alleged that they had had no intention of escaping and argued that Mushe Nemudzivhadi had threatened to kill them if they refused to escape along with him. They were acquitted on a charge of escaping from lawful custody.

The police are currently still searching for Tshishonga and Nemudzivhadi. Anyone with the information regarding the two suspects can contact W/O Elijah Malatjie at 079 573 1947.
