The case was finalised in the Tshitale Magistrate's Court on Monday.
The incident that lead to the case took place at Mpofu Village in the Tshitale area during the night of November 21. The court heard that Phaswana's mother had an affair with the victim and that Colbert was not happy with his mother's behaviour.
Phaswana testified in court that he advised his mother to jilt the man on a number of occasions, saying her conduct was denting the image of the family. The victim paid Phaswana's mother a visit during the night of the incident.
While they were together inside the house Phaswana arrived. He ordered the victim (60) to leave the house immediately. At first the victim was reluctant to comply, but he later realised that his life was in danger and started to pack his bags.
While he was busy preparing to go the accused produced a knife and stabbed him several times in the chest and ribs. He was taken to hospital where he was admitted for several days.
Phaswana was not given an option of a fine.
