Madodonga United emerged as the champions of the Madodonga Massive Soccer Tournament after their 3-0 victory over Hollywood Mabaleng FC in the final match played at Madodonga on Sunday.
Mabaleng created some promising moves from behind in the opening minutes, but their strikers let them down by shooting aimlessly. United knocked on Mabaleng's door in the 24th minute when Dakalo Mamathuntsha tried his luck from the edge of the box. His volley hit the crossbar and bounced out of play for a goal kick.
United were eventually rewarded with a goal in the 29th minute. Masilo Lishivha was on target, following a mix-up within the box.
Mabaleng lost cohesion in the middle of the park after the goal and were severely punished. United made it 2-0 before the half-time whistle with a second goal from Masilo Lishivha, whose close-range ground cutter was too hot for the Mabaleng keeper to handle.
United's third goal came in the 75th minute when Mashudu Tshiovhe dribbled past three Mabaleng defenders and scored easily.
The champions received R5,000, a trophy, gold medals, a soccer kit, and a soccer ball. The runners-up, Hollywood Mabaleng, collected R3,000, a soccer ball, silver medals, and a soccer kit. The teams that finished in third and fourth positions, Midoroni United and Gogobole Bucs, each received R1,000 and a soccer ball.
