The chairman of Venda Football Academy (VFA), Mr Itani Munzhelele, has officially announced the appointment of Mr Joel Masutha as the head coach of the team. This decision has come after weeks of speculation and is based on Masutha's impressive track record with the team.
Masutha, also known as "The Prophet," joined VFA earlier this year from Black Leopards when VFA were among the bottom three teams in the league standings. Under Masutha's guidance, the team's performance improved significantly, and they finished the league program in 11th position with 38 points.
While Munzhelele did not provide specific details, sources close to the club revealed that Masutha was given the opportunity to choose his own assistant coach. Mr Morgan Shivambu, the former assistant coach of Black Leopards, will apparently join Masutha as his assistant when the team begins preparations for the new season later this month. Masutha and Shivambu had previously worked together at Black Leopards for several years.
Furthermore, Masutha has recommended the appointment of Mr Alex Muruba as the team's physical trainer, and the club's management has approved this recommendation without any conditions. Additionally, the club has decided to extend the employment contract of Mr Azwinndini Maphaha, who has been coaching the goalkeepers in the club for the past two seasons, for another 12 months.
