After suffering a 0-1 defeat at the hands of JDR Stars at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium outside Pretoria on Tuesday afternoon, Venda Football Academy (VFA) will be on the road again this weekend. They will undertake a journey to Upington in the Northern Cape, where they will lock horns with Hungry Lions FC in their GladAfrica Championship League match at the Danie Kuys Stadium on Saturday.
VFA must collect the full points at stake in the match to keep their title hopes alive. They are currently lying in the 10th spot on the log standings with 12 points, nine behind the pace setters, JDR Stars.
Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) are also gearing up for an away match. They will visit Pretoria Callies at the Lucas Moripe Stadium outside Pretoria. Pretoria Callies are still fresh from a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Richards Bay FC at the Umhlatuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay on Tuesday. TTM were playing against TS Sporting at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The result of the match was not available at the time of our going to print.
The other Vhembe-based side, Black Leopards FC, will enjoy the home-ground advantage in their match against Platinum City Rovers. Although this is a home fixture for Lidoda duvha, they decided to take the game to Polokwane's Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. Black Leopards must win the match at all costs to restore their lost pride. They were lying in the second-last position on the log standings with seven points before their match against Cape Town All Stars on Wednesday, which was played at the Danie Craven Stadium in Cape Town.
Jomo Cosmos will host Free State Stars at the Tsakane Stadium in Johannesburg. Polokwane City, who played to a goalless draw with Jomo Cosmos on Tuesday, will host University of Pretoria FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The other fixtures are: Uthongathi FC vs JDR Stars, Cape Town Spurs vs Cape Town All Stars and Richards Bay FC vs TS Sporting.
