After securing a 2-1 victory over Cape Town Spurs in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at Thohoyandou Stadium on Tuesday, Venda Football Club (VFC) will face another tough test when they host JDR Stars at the same venue on Saturday afternoon.
The match is crucial for VFC, whose future in the league remains uncertain. Despite Tuesday's much-needed win, they are still third from the bottom on the log with 20 points—just two ahead of last-placed Leruma United and one above Cape Town Spurs.
A loss against JDR Stars, coupled with wins for Cape Town Spurs and Leruma United in their weekend fixtures, would see VFC drop to the bottom of the standings. Leruma United will face log leaders Durban City, while Cape Town Spurs take on Baroka FC at the Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo.
VFC will be hoping for another strong performance from their attacking duo, Tau Rankoko and Tshepo Mofokeng, who both found the net against Cape Town Spurs.
JDR Stars, currently among the league's top three teams, come into the match in high spirits, following their 1-0 victory over the University of Pretoria at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium on Tuesday.
