One of Thohoyandou's two Motsepe Foundation Championship League affiliates, Venda Football Club (VFC), has good reason to believe they will be a formidable force when the new soccer season kicks off next weekend. The club unveiled eight new players last Sunday.

Among the new signings is the former Moroka Swallows striker, Daniel Gozar, who will be donning VFC's colours in the upcoming season. Lufuno Ndou, who captained the ABC Motsepe League side Mpheni Defenders for the past two seasons, has also committed to helping Maunavhathu. Additionally, the club have bolstered their squad with the acquisition of Thapelo Sekgobela and Brendan Baloyi, both from Tzaneen United.

To strengthen their goalkeeping department, VFC have brought in Ndamulelo Fanie Raudzingana from Mamelodi Sundowns. The former JDR Stars playmaker, Siyabonga Dudula, has also joined the Thohoyandou side. Their most notable signing is Ugandan international Charles Lukwago. Leon Sithole from FC Basel has also signed with VFC.

During the player unveiling, the club's chairman, Mr Itani Munzhelele, emphasised that these signings signified the club's serious intention to gain promotion to the Betway Premiership Division by the end of the 2024/25 season. Munzhelele, also known as "Vhanzheli," revealed that the team's technical staff would remain unchanged, with Mr Duncan Lechesa continuing as the head coach.

VFC will commence the new season by hosting Milford FC at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday, 24 August.
