Black Leopards demonstrated their commitment to securing promotion to the DStv Premiership Division by defeating Maritzburg United 2-1 in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban last Friday evening (15th). This victory marked Black Leopards' first win away from home this season.

Following the game, the head coach of Black Leopards, Mr Solly Luvhengo, praised the players. He emphasised that he had conveyed to the team before the match the importance of collecting full points in away games for their promotion aspirations. While pleased with the team's performance at home, Luvhengo stressed that donating vital points to opponents in away matches could hinder their chances of gaining promotion to the elite league.

Under the guidance of Luvhengo and co-coach Peter Mponda, Lidoda duvha has yet to lose a home match. Their worst result at home was a 1-1 draw with Venda Football Club (VFC). Luvhengo believes that the victory against Maritzburg United will significantly boost the players' morale for their remaining away fixtures.

Before Tuesday's match against Milford FC, Black Leopards were in the ninth position with 23 points. The result of the match was not available at the time of our going to print.

While Black Leopards aim for promotion, VFC is experiencing challenges. Despite appointing Mr Duncan Lechesa as the head coach, VFC is struggling to find a winning combination. They suffered a 0-2 defeat against Upington City at the Malamulele Stadium last Saturday. VFC occupied the 14th spot on the log standings with 14 points before Tuesday's match against NB La Masia, played at the Bidvest Stadium in Johannesburg.
