The opening matches of the Vision Soccer Tournament will be played at the Dzimauli Tshakhumba Grounds this weekend. The tournament was officially launched during a meeting held at the grounds last Saturday.
Sixteen teams affiliated with the Thulamela Local Football Association (Thulfa) will take part in the tournament. Four matches will be played on Saturday, with the same number of matches scheduled for Sunday.
Pile Mighty Killers and Mutale Vikings will meet in the opening fixture on Saturday morning, starting at 09:30. Mianzwi Green Hornet and Mutale Atlantico Madrid will follow, starting at 11:30. Tshandama Swiswa and Lukau FC will test each other's strength in the third fixture, while Madzivhanani FC and Bashasha Terror Masters will wrap up the day's programme, starting at 15:50.
Mangaya Living Commodores and Managa Rising Stars will be the first to enter the field of play on Sunday morning. The game that is expected to keep the spectators on the edge of their seats will be between Tshapasha Western Chiefs and Mafukani FC. Tshilovo FC and Makhwali FC will battle it out for a place in the quarter-finals shortly after midday. The final match of the day will be between Dzhanguluvhe FC and Badiramogo FC.
According to the organiser and sponsor of the tournament, Mr Reginald Musetha, the champions will receive R9,000, a floating trophy, soccer kit, gold medals, a set of soccer nets, and a soccer ball. The runners-up will receive R4,500, a soccer kit, silver medals, a set of soccer nets, and a soccer ball. The third- and fourth-placed teams will each take home R2,500, a soccer kit, bronze medals, and soccer balls. Teams eliminated in the quarter-finals will each receive R1,000 and a soccer ball.
The semi-final and final matches will be played at the same venue on Sunday, 22 December.
