The late Chief Phillip Mulindavhathu Vhutsilu Randima of Khubvi was eulogised as a hardworking pioneer of development and a library of Tshivenda traditions and customs.

Randima (74) who, among other developments, initiated the Mulindavhathu Soccer Spectacular that brought young and old together annually for a game of soccer, passed away last Monday. He was buried on Tuesday evening at his home burial site as per his wish.

Only close relatives and traditional leaders from the Tshivhase clan attended the funeral. A memorial service in his honour, which was attended by traditional leaders from all over Vhembe and members of Contralesa in Vhembe, was held on Saturday.

Thovhele Mphalaleni described the passing away of Randima as a great loss not only to the family but the whole clan. "Randima was a hard worker who held the circumcision and boundaries portfolio at the Tshivhase Royal Council because of his vast knowledge of the history of our area. We are saddened as leaders that we lost a valuable member and we do not even know how we will replace him," he said.

His tombstone will be unveiled at a date to be decided by the family. All who crossed paths with him will be invited to come and celebrate his life.
