A man from Mozambique, the 59-year-old Sebastio Ngulele, again appeared in the Louis Trichardt magistrate's court last week on a charge of illegal rhino hunting and being in possession of rhino horn and an illegal firearm.

The man was arrested on November 18, 2007, after being found in possession of the two rhino horns, supposedly shortly after having hunted the two rhinos in the Kruger National Park (KNP). He was apprehended by game wardens from the Vlakteplaas section of the KNP.

Game wardens from the KNP, some of whom have been providing evidence in the case, staged a protest outside the local court during Ngulele's appearance, protesting against the slaughtering of animals and specifically rhinos.

Ngulele's case was postponed until December 9 and 10 when further evidence will be heard. He will remain in custody.
