The good deeds of a person shall follow him or her everywhere. This holds true for the Thulamela Municipality's senior manager, Mr Reuben Dzivhani, who recently retired after 20 years of active service at the municipality.

Upon his retirement, many who crossed paths with him throughout his working years came to say goodbye to him. They included the mayor of Thulamela, Cllr Mushoni Tshifhango, municipal manager Mr Hlengani Maluleke, SAMWU national representative Mr Timson Tshililo, top-flight businessman Mr Lufuno Mphaphuli, colleagues, family and friends.

The event was held at the Dam Retreat Resort at Nandoni last Friday.

The former senior manager human settlements pioneered the electricity partnership between the municipality and the community, which had made the municipality very popular. The electricity model became the envy of many in the country and Dzivhani received many invitations from around the country where he addressed municipalities about their electricity model.

Speakers during the function spoke glowingly of the times they spent together with Dzivhani. He was described as a humble, dedicated and hardworking manager who was always available.

Cllr Mushoni Tshifhango commended Dzivhani for the good he did while employed by the municipality. He urged other staff members that the example Dzivhani set was worth emulating.

Dzivhani said he made a vow that he would quit when he reached the age of 60. "I am keeping the vow, but this does not mean that I am just going to sit down with nothing to do. I have plans and projects that I always wanted to do which I will have time to do now.'

He said that he had decided to give more time "to serving my Lord and more time with my family."
