Thohoyandou police have opened murder and inquest dockets following the deaths of a married couple — both warrant officers stationed at Thohoyandou police station.
The bodies of a 45-year-old woman and her 55-year-old husband were discovered inside their home at Thukhutha village outside Thohoyandou on Tuesday, 24 February, at about 13:10.
Police said the woman was found lying in a pool of blood, while her husband was discovered hanging from a rope attached to the roof. Both were declared dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident may be linked to domestic violence. Both officers were stationed at the Criminal Records Centre at Thohoyandou police station.
The motive remains under investigation. Authorities have urged anyone with information that may assist investigators to contact the nearest police station.
