The game was a balanced affair, with both sides creating some scoring chances. The first 10 minutes saw Anchors miss two clear chances. Aluwani "Killer" Nedzamba, who received a great pass from Leavy Matshavha, unleashed a powerful shot from close range. The ball hit the crossbar and landed outside the field of play for a goal kick. Kgotso Maphala committed a similar blunder a little later.

Anchors took the game to their opponents soon afterwards. Their efforts did not pass without reward as they opened their account in the 25th minute. Benny Mamaila beat the keeper with a long-range volley. The halftime score was 1-0 in favour of Stars.

In the 10th minute of the second half, Stars stamped their authority on the game. They were awarded a free kick after Maanda Magoro was brought down just outside the box. Benny Mamaila tried his luck from the free kick and the keeper of Anchors, Andries Masingi, watched helplessly as the ball hit the back of the net.

Robby Munonoka went loose from the right corner before unleashing a powerful to score the third goal. Anchors lost shape in the middle of the park after the goal and Stars capitalised and increased the tally in the 64th minute. Thabo Matuba dribbled past two defenders and the keeper before he scored the fourth goal of his team.

Vhutshilo Mafunisa and Leavy Matshavha of Anchors were cautioned with yellow cards for different infringements.

Stars scored their fifth via Thabo Matuba late in the game.
