"We are happy receiving this wheelchair for one of our family members who is disabled. At least it becomes easier for us to be at parks, braaiing spots, visiting resorts or even going to church," said Fhumulani Mafunzwaini after his younger brother, Mulamuleli Mafunzwaini, received a wheelchair from the Magoma Foundation.
Mulamuleli is from Ngwenani Ya Themeli village, Thulamela.
The Magoma Foundation is on a mission of to assist vulnerable people who are within their reach. In the process, they build homes suitable for the vulnerable or donate wheelchairs. The wheelchair campaign started a month ago and they were inspired by a six-year-old girl who struggled to get by because she did not have the means to move around. The foundation is being assisted by several companies and individuals in fulfilling their mission.
The foundation aims to give the disabled hope and remind them that their disability cannot stop them from achieving their goals in life.
"My mother had a dream of being a teacher, but all hopes were shattered since she had no one to take care of Mulamuleli. A disabled person needs full-time attention, going up and down with doctors' appointments," said Fhumulani.
The wheelchair was donated in the presence of Cllr Rapson Rambuwani, singer Percy Mukwevho and Denga Nephawe from Rita Dee entertainment.
