Who will be the new Vhanasi Soccer champs?

All roads will be leading to the Sambandou United Professionals (Supro) grounds from next Monday, 27 to 31 December, where the annual Vhanasi Soccer Tournament will take place.

As usual, 16 teams from around Vhembe will take part in this year's tournament. Teams which gearing up for the annual event are: Sambandou Seven Hunters, Mashamba Soccer Academy, Tswera Hot Chillies, Mahunguwi Green Mambas, Tshilavulu Elite FC, Mavunde Hungry Vultures, United Artists, Dipeni FC, Madridtas FC, Musasenda Big Five, Khubvi Dangerous Darkies, Sambandou United Professionals, Makuya Try Again FC, Phaphama FC, Anel Real Vikings and the defending champions, Berea FC.

According to one of the organisers of the tournament, Mr Mmbi Munasi, this year's champions will take home a cash prize of R15 000, a floating trophy, gold medals, a soccer ball and a soccer kit. The runners-up will be presented with R7 000, silver medals, a soccer kit and a soccer ball. Mr Munasi is the sole sponsor of the tournament.

The opening matches will be played on Monday, while the final is scheduled for Friday, 31 December. According to Mr Munasi, the final game will be preceded by the curtain-raiser game between the Premier Soccer League legends and Vhanasi's friends. Some of the PSL legends who are expected to be part of the squad include Frank Makua, Steve Lekoelea, Jerry Sikhosana, Doctor Khumalo, Edward Motale, Cyril Nzama, Thapelo Liau and Abel Shongwe.

Some of the players who are expected to be part of Vhanasi's Friends' starting line-up include the former Black Leopards' dribbling wizard, Christopher Netshidzivhe, Mulondo Sikhwivhilu, Dzux Mundalamo, Magic Ratshivhadelo, Ntodeni Mulovhedzi, Chita Netshikweta, Muguyo Mudau, Ntsunda Ndanduleni and Demure Mudzanani.
