The semi-finals and final of the Kamurini Soccer Tournament will be played at the Lambani Mahagala Sports Grounds on Saturday. The four teams that have booked places in the semi-finals are Tshaulu Powerlines, Madridtas FC, Vhembe Tron and FC Basel.
Tshaulu Powerlines and Madridtas will be the first to take to the pitch in the opening semi-final, scheduled to kick off at 09:00. Madridtas did not take part in the Safa Vhembe Regional League promotional play-offs this year, after finishing their league campaign in second place with 45 points – six behind Stream B1 champions Malavuwe Great Movers.
Vhembe Tron and Basel will face off in the second semi-final, set to kick off at 11:00. Basel and Tron are considered favourites to lift the trophy, based on their performance during this season's league campaign. Basel narrowly missed out on a promotional play-off spot after finishing second in their stream.
Tron's performance in the promotional play-offs was impressive. The Tshakhuma side lost 1-0 to Rabali Pull Together in the final at Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday. Stopping Tron's forwards, Muphulusi Mukomafhedzi and Prince Sebola, will not be an easy task for Basel's defenders.
The winners will receive R15,000, a floating trophy and gold medals. The runners-up will get R5,000 and silver medals, while the losing semi-finalists will each walk away with R2,500.
