The quarter-final matches of the second edition of the Mafhungwana Soccer Tournament will take place at the Khubvi Benjie's Grounds on Sunday.
The opening clash, scheduled for 09:00, will see defending champions Berea FC face off against Tshivhilwi Young Bombers. The Bombers will have a tough task on their hands, with Berea in high spirits after finishing top of Stream H2 in the Safa Vhembe Regional League and preparing for the promotional playoffs.
At 11:00, Maheni Devoted Vultures will take on Malavuwe Great Movers. The Movers are in fine form, having lost just one game all season. They also recently clinched the Stream B1 title.
Musasenda Big Five and TGM FC will lock horns in the third fixture of the day, scheduled to start shortly after midday.
Wrapping up the day's action will be a highly anticipated encounter between Thohoyandou Manchester Flying Stars and Tshamutilikwa Fire Boys. Both teams are currently challenging for league honours in their respective streams, and a thrilling contest is expected.
This year's tournament winners will walk away with R20,000, a floating trophy, gold medals and a full soccer kit. The runners-up will receive R10,000, silver medals and a kit, while the third-placed team will be awarded R7,000, bronze medals and a kit. The fourth-placed side will go home with R5,000 and a kit.
Teams knocked out in the quarter'-final stage will each receive a consolation prize of R2,000.
The final will be played at Makonde Stadium on Monday, 16 June.
