The semi-final and final matches of the Nwali Soccer Tournament will be played at the Khubvi Benjie's Grounds tomorrow (Friday). The teams that managed to reach the semi-final stage are Berea FC, Tshimuthe FC, Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers and Mukula Young Santos.
The first semi-final will be between Mukula Young Santos and Tshimuthe FC. The game is scheduled to start at 09:00. Tshimuthe's way to the semi-final round went via Rockers FC, whom they narrowly beat 1-0 in their quarter-final match at the same venue last Sunday.
Tshimuthe, however, will have to up their game if they want to play in the final. Judging by Santos' performance against United Artists in their quarter-final match, Tshimuthe will have their work cut out for them. Although they are campaigning in the higher division, United Artists were brutally crushed 3-1 by Santos.
The second semi-final match, which is scheduled to start at 11:00, will be between Berea FC and Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers, who did the unexpected when they beat Vondwe XI Bullets 2-0 in their quarter-final match last Saturday. Berea FC, in turn, beat Nweli Stone Breakers 3-0 to secure a place in the semi-final round.
The prize-giving ceremony will be held at the grounds shortly after the final game. The champions will receive R10 000, a floating trophy, gold medals and a soccer ball. The runners-up will take home R7 000, a soccer ball and silver medals.
Cash amounting to R4 000, a soccer ball and bronze medals are awaiting the team finishing in the third position, while the fourth-placed side will be presented with R3 000.
