Black Leopards must ensure they beat Durban City when the two sides meet in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Sunday afternoon. The result is likely to be the deciding factor in whether Black Leopards take part in the promotional playoffs at the end of the season.
Lidoda Duvha are one of five teams fighting to secure a place in the playoffs. The other four teams in the tight race for a playoff spot are JDR Stars, Kruger United, Casric Stars and Orbit College. Anything less than a win on Sunday could do Black Leopards more harm than good.
Black Leopards head coach Joel Masutha is adamant his team will win their two remaining fixtures and qualify for the playoffs. He assured the team's supporters that Durban City would have to double their efforts to shatter their hopes of promotion.
Durban City played Milford FC at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday evening. The result of that match was not yet available at the time of our going to press. Durban City will need only one point from Sunday's match against Black Leopards to be crowned league champions – provided the midweek result against Milford went in their favour.
In other fixtures also scheduled for Sunday, Venda Football Club will host Casric Stars at Thohoyandou Stadium, and JDR Stars will take on Orbit College at Soshanguve Giant Stadium outside Pretoria. The remaining fixtures are Baroka FC v Pretoria Callies, Highbury v Kruger United, Leruma United v Milford FC, and University of Pretoria v Upington City.
