After crushing Pretoria Callies 2-0 at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday, Black Leopards face another tough challenge this Saturday when they host Hungry Lions at the same venue.
Although they will be playing in front of their home crowd, defeating Hungry Lions will not be a walk in the park for the Thohoyandou side. The Kimberley team is in high spirits, following their 3-1 victory over Venda Football Club at the Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley last Saturday. Hungry Lions are currently ninth on the log with seven points from five matches. A win against Black Leopards could propel them to fourth place.
Leopards' defenders will have the mammoth task of neutralising the Lions' attacking trio of George Vaaltyn, Dondre Gordon, and Jayden Wakefield. Meanwhile, Hungry Lions' goalkeeper, Thabo Mogale, is considered one of the best in the league.
Black Leopards must win this match at all costs to stay in contention for the league championship. A victory over Hungry Lions on Saturday could see Black Leopards rise to the top of the log. Lidoda Duvha are currently in fifth place with 10 points, two points behind the leaders, Casric Stars.
If Black Leopards' performance against Pretoria Callies last Saturday is any indication, Hungry Lions may struggle to stop them. Leopards dominated the game from the outset and were rewarded with two goals later in the match. The striking combination of Mwape Musonda and Bethuel Muzeu has the potential to break through any defence. Musonda and Muzeu were the goal scorers in the game against Pretoria Callies.
