Another busy weekend awaits teams campaigning in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Venda Football Club (VFC) will be hoping to bounce back when they face Lerumo Lions at the Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg on Sunday afternoon. VFC will want to make up for the 3-1 defeat they suffered at the hands of Hungry Lions at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday.
A win over Lerumo Lions would restore pride and revive their promotion hopes. Last weekend's loss saw VFC drop from seventh to 11th place on the log. The team has collected five points from five matches so far.
Lerumo Lions are in 13th position with four points. They are also looking to recover after a 2-1 defeat by Casric Stars last Saturday.
Although head coach Clinton Larsen was reluctant to confirm this, most of the defenders who started against Hungry Lions are expected to miss Sunday's match. In a post-match interview, Larsen blamed his defence for the defeat.
Nhlanhla Makhubele and Thato Lingwati are expected to anchor VFC's back line, with first-choice goalkeeper Malcolm Jacobs once again guarding the poles. VFC have conceded five goals in five games.
