Will Madridtas manage to spoil the Young Stars’ party?

The SAFA Vhembe Regional League concludes this Saturday with crucial Stream B and G matches determining champions.

Teams campaigning in Stream B of the SAFA Vhembe Regional League will play their final league matches of the current soccer season this Saturday.

All eyes will be on the decisive fixture between Mahangala Young Stars and Madridtas FC at Mahangala Grounds. Young Stars are currently leading the log with 100 points, three points ahead of Makonde FC. Young Stars need only one point from the match to be crowned Stream B champions.

However, they will still have to guard against complacency against a Madridtas side expected to come out strongly following a 7-1 victory over Lambani Bayern last Saturday.

Madridtas are in fourth place with 96 points. Should they beat Young Stars on Saturday, they would finish their campaign on 99 points. If Young Stars fail to pick up a point, their title hopes will depend on Makonde FC dropping points against Miriyavhavha FC.

Attention will also shift to Stream G, where the team to represent the stream in the regional promotional playoffs will be decided on Saturday. The title race is between Maelula United Brothers and Eagles United Stars. United Brothers lead the log with 112 points, with Eagles United Stars one point behind.

Eagles United Stars will wrap up their league programme with a home fixture against Chipolopolo FC, who are in sixth position with 63 points. Maelula United Brothers will need to finish strongly when they visit Matshavhawe United at Matshavhawe Grounds.
