Will The Dolphins stop Mpheni Defenders?

Undefeated Mpheni Defenders lead the ABC Motsepe League ahead of a challenging match against The Dolphins FC. Other teams, including Mukondeni Young Chiefs and Musina United, are also set for crucial weekend fixtures.

Another action-packed weekend awaits teams campaigning under the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League. After beating Tzaneen United 1-0 at Nkowankowa Stadium outside Tzaneen last Saturday, Mpheni Defenders face another tough challenge when they host The Dolphins FC at Mpheni Grounds on Saturday.

Mpheni Defenders are yet to drop a point this season. The team has won all six games played to date. “Up The Bulls,” as they are affectionately called, are leading the pack with 18 points, five ahead of Tzaneen United. To show that Defenders have a balanced squad, the team has scored 15 goals and conceded only two so far.

The likes of Meshack Maphangule, Lufuno Mulaudzi and Gift Nemutandani will test The Dolphins’ defence if they are not properly marked.

Mukondeni Young Chiefs will be hoping to claim all three points when they host Baduzah Celtics at Tshifulanani Stadium. Young Chiefs’ hopes of lifting the league trophy this season were dented when they were held to a goalless draw by The Dolphins at Ben Serake Stadium in Senwabarwana last Friday. The Chiefs are currently third on the log with 12 points, six behind pace-setters Mpheni Defenders.

Musina United are preparing for a tough encounter when they host Tzaneen United at Musina Rugby Stadium. The team is in a celebratory mood after beating White Vultures 2-1 last Saturday.

Other fixtures this weekend are: Vondwe XI Bullets vs White Vultures, Lebash Football Academy vs Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, and Nkowankowa Continentals vs Phalaborwa United.
