This weekend marks the start of the Apollo Bottle Store Soccer Tournament. Sixteen teams from across Vhembe will battle it out at the Matatshe Materetere Grounds. Four matches are scheduled for Saturday, with another four set for Monday, 16 December.
Saturday's programme will kick off with a match between Vhufuli Dangerous Scorpions and Makwarani Frelimo Boys at 09:00. Madridtas FC will face Sambandou United Professionals at 11:00, followed by a clash between Tshimuthe FC and Makhuvha All Stars. The day's programme will conclude with a match between Mahagala Young Stars and Saudi FC.
Monday's matches will begin with Tshamutilikwa Fire Boys taking on Domboni FC. Vondwe United Brothers are bracing for a tough encounter against Tshitavha Brave Lions. Tshandama Try Together will need to pull out all the stops to advance to the quarter-finals as they face Mukula Young Santos. In the final match of the day, Ngwenani Young Chiefs will go head-to-head with Makhuvha Up The Ants.
According to tournament director Mr Teddy Ritshuri, the champions will walk away with R12,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals. The runners-up will receive R5,000 and silver medals, while the teams finishing third and fourth will be awarded R3,000 and R1,500 respectively.
