One of the Vhembe District's top private schools, Wilmary Christian Learning Centre, has once again proven its excellence by being ranked among the best-performing schools in Limpopo Province, based on its matric results for 2024.
The school, located in the Vhembe West Circuit, has a proud history spanning several years as one of the top-performing schools not only in the circuit but also in the Vhembe District.
Wilmary achieved a 100% matric pass rate in 2020, 2021 and 2022. In 2023, the pass rate was 97%, and last year it stood at 95%. During the 2024 matric exams, the school's learners excelled, earning numerous accolades and distinctions.
Adivhaho Fhetani, the school's top learner, achieved no fewer than seven distinctions. Unarine Mugodi earned five distinctions, while Sarina Sirovha and Vhuyatsha Halatedzi each obtained four distinctions.
Adivhaho thanked God for guiding her through her achievement. She said she had prayed fervently to reach her goals. "I'm glad my prayers were answered," she said. "I was extremely happy, and I thank God for his unconditional love. I didn't expect to be a top learner. Matric was sometimes draining. I would get depressed, but I kept myself motivated. I used to start my day early so that I could stay ahead; I guess I did catch the fattest worm," she smiled.
"I managed to achieve such excellent results because of my dedication, drive, passion and hunger for success. I also want to emphasise that just because you are disabled, it doesn't mean you cannot succeed," Adivhaho said.
"To this year's matric class, my advice is to work hard. Matric is not child's play. They must sacrifice everything—don't go to parties and stay focused. If you put pressure on yourself now, you'll enjoy the rewards later."
A member of the school-governing body congratulated the school, saying: "You may have fond memories of past years, but you never know what the new one will bring. It's time to be hopeful, create new dreams and set new resolutions for 2025 and beyond. It's time to connect with each other and embrace what's new. We appreciate the effort and energy you put into overcoming the challenges Wilmary faced. You did not throw in the towel."
