The African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) in the Vhembe region has elected Winny Ndimandi from Collins Chabane Local Municipality unopposed as regional chairperson, along with other new executive members, during its elective conference held at Kalahari Waterfront on 16 and 17 April.
Ms Fhulufhelo Mutheiwana was elected regional secretary, while Vivian Milanzi was elected regional treasurer. Ruth Maingo was elected deputy regional chairperson, and Nkhangweleni Masikhwa was elected deputy secretary.
ANC Women’s League Limpopo secretary Tebogo Mamorobela said the elected leaders must not use their positions to pursue personal interests. Addressing delegates on the final day of the conference, Mamorobela emphasised that the newly elected leadership must prioritise unity in the region.
“One of the key mandates of the newly elected leadership is to unite comrades who were sharing different views coming into this conference. We will not tolerate tendencies of undermining the elected leadership. Remedial action will be taken against those who do not accept the outcome,” she said.
In her acceptance speech, Ndimandi said the organisation should be led collectively. “There is only one ANC in this region, and we will never allow it to be divided. We need to focus on the resolutions and declarations made at this conference and not on individual aspirations,” she said.
According to Ndimandi, the newly elected leadership will focus on improving municipal administration across all municipalities in the district to enhance service delivery.
