The body of a 48-year-old woman was found at Hamutsha Muungamunwe village in the Levubu area in the early hours of Saturday morning, prompting police to launch a murder investigation.
According to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, officers were called to the scene at about 06:45 after community members reported seeing a woman lying motionless on the ground. When police arrived, they found the victim lying on her back with the lower part of her body uncovered.
Police said a white pair of trousers had allegedly been tightly wrapped around the deceased’s neck. Her underwear and tights were found near her legs, while one black shoe was discovered next to the body. The second shoe was later found a few metres away during a search of the area.
Preliminary investigations also revealed several visible injuries, including wounds to the mouth, bruising around the neck, and injuries to the back and buttocks.
The identities of the suspects remain unknown, and the motive for the killing has not yet been established.
