Masimbane Pfano Castro, a 24-year-old from Makonde, has released his second book, Drowning in the Sea. The book, which explores faith, hope, and overcoming challenges, follows the success of his first book, Rock of Prayer.
Masimbane began writing in 2018 while he was in Grade 10. He credits his grandmother for inspiring him by teaching him the importance of God's Word. "I began sharing the Word of God with my classmates in 2016 when I was in Grade 8 at Tshivhase Secondary. During school holidays, I had no one to share it with, so I decided to write my thoughts down to help others, even when I wasn't with them," he explains.
His new book, Drowning in the Sea, was published in 2024. It shares his personal journey of facing depression, sickness, and fear, and how faith helped him overcome these struggles. "The book is about finding hope in tough times and trusting God through life's challenges," Masimbane says.
In addition to being an author, Masimbane is also a businessman. He owns a water-purification company called Verbond Still Water and a publishing company, Divine Uplift Publishing, which helps Christian writers publish their books. He is also a self-taught graphic designer, life coach, mentor, musician, and motivational speaker.
Masimbane plans to write more books and release them as audiobooks to make them more accessible to a wider audience. He says his books will continue to focus on helping others grow through faith and resilience.
