From the remote village of Tshikunda in Nzhelele, 18-year-old Orifuna Rabada is proving that determination and courage can take you far. She has secured her place as a Miss Qhawekazi South Africa 2025 finalist, proudly representing Limpopo on one of the country's biggest stages.

Rabada's modelling journey began in 2022 when she entered her high school pageant. That moment sparked a passion that has since grown into a career.

"Miss Qhawekazi South Africa is more than just a beauty contest. It's about empowering women, building independence, and inspiring positive change in our communities. That's why I see myself as iqhawekazi, a brave woman," she explained.

For Rabada, competing against contestants from across the country is both exciting and challenging. "It's not only about the crown. It's also about building sisterhood and growing together as young women. This journey has already opened opportunities for me to work with brands, even before the finale," she said.

Her family remains her strongest source of support. While some relatives cannot always attend events because of distance, they show their love through voting and encouragement. Her grandmother, Hildah Nditsheni Rabada, is her biggest cheerleader, making sure her outfits are ready and pushing her to stay confident.

Faith also plays a major role in her preparation. "I pray before every competition and trust God for guidance. Being a finalist means facing fears I never thought I could. It's about bravery, courage, and inspiring others to go after their dreams," she reflected.

Looking ahead, Rabada hopes to complete her degree while continuing to inspire others through modelling. "I want young people to see that it's possible to pursue education and still shine in the modelling industry. My dream is to be remembered as not just a model, but an educated role model," she added.

The Miss Qhawekazi South Africa 2025 Grand Finale will be held at the South African State Theatre, bringing together the nation's most inspiring young women. For Rabada, stepping onto that stage is already a victory. "Not everyone will walk away with the crown, but just being in the spotlight means you've already won," she concluded.
