The final match of the MTG and PIB competition between Muduluni Young Chiefs and Magau United ended in goalless draw. The winner was determined by penalty shoot-out and Muduluni Young Chiefs won the event 5-4.
The match was played at the Ravele grounds.
Chiefs was the superior side from the onset as far as possession of the ball was concerned. They put a lot of pressure on the defence of United for the better part of the match, and the first half was characterised by dangerous play from United's players.
In an attempt to calm the situation, the referee flashed several yellow cards in quick succession and booked players for applying dirty tricks and dangerous play.
In the second stanza, United put more pressure on their opponents. The absence of many players in the United defence was felt from the onset. Rofhiwa Khadammbi of Chiefs could not make the grade as the opponents used him as their freeway.
Magau's central back, Mushe Mpilo and Shonisani Mahumela, were reprimanded with cards for rough tackling and wasting time respectively. Chiefs introduced Rolivhuwa Kutama and Zwanga Matumba for Rofhiwa Khadammbi and Benedict Ramokgobedi respectively, but this did not have any influence on the outcome of the match.
The draw was a fair result for the evenly contested match. The winners went home with a trophy, a cash prize of R2 000 and new soccer kit. Magau received R1 000 and new soccer kit.
