Mikateko Mangolele is set to launch his first book soon, which he believes will channel and align the reader's thoughts and foster a positive self-image. His book, titled It's all about your mind, puts emphasis on mind transformation.
Born and bred in Chavani, Bokisi village, not far from Elim, Mikateko (26) studied BCom finance and also acquired his honours degree in financial management at the University of Johannesburg. The rising author is currently studying management accounting at the strategic level through a United Kingdom-based CIMA Institute.
He reckons that the power of change of mind is imperative. "It makes you focus and glance on the good spheres of life. Proverbs 23:7 and 18:21 say, 'as someone thinks within himself, so he is' and 'the tongue has the power of life and death'," he said.
His desire to write and to be a motivational speaker started to take form early on in his life. "I always had a desire to write a book and be a motivational speaker from the age of 13, but I never had the opportunity," he said.
He explained how he started his journey at the age of 15, after he was elected to be a youth leader. "I started ministering at church and ran motivational talk shows. Later, during my university days, I had an opportunity to meet Farzana, daughter of well-known businessman Solly Noor. She groomed me to see the impact of mentorship when I had to look after a few students from different educational fields."
He said that his passion was really ignited when he started to talk to people from different backgrounds. "Every individual is meant to have their own different and unique journey. But come to think of it, we all have one common ground in our complexities: our mind, being the centre of our success," he said. According to him, all it takes for one to succeed is being able to channel one's mind to think positively. "I want to convey to the people that everything you want to achieve in life is all in your mind," he said.
