This weekend marks the starting point of the much-awaited Zama-Zama Soccer Challenge. The annual event was officially launched during a ceremony held at the Xilumani Hotel in Giyani three weeks ago.
All matches will be played at the Homu 14B Grounds outside Giyani. The first four matches will be played on Sunday. The opening match will be between Wonder Boys FC and Diamonds FC. Gawula Academy will meet Gaza Academy in the second match, which is scheduled to start at 12:00. It will be followed by the match between Marhavi FC and Gawula Arsenal. The day's programme will be wrapped up by the match between Kulani Ama 2000 FC and KYD FC.
The same number of matches will be played on Monday. Mapayeni FC will test their strength against Lombard FC. Emmanuel FC will have a date with Roman Killers in what promises to be a final before the actual final. Emmanuel FC is one of the two teams from the ABC Motsepe League in the tournament, while Roman Killers are doing well in their Safa Mopani Regional League campaign.
The other team affiliated to the ABC Motsepe League is Giyani Happy Boys. Happy Boys will do battle with Muyexe FC. Homu Young Tigers will play against Nkambako FC.
Next Tuesday's fixtures are Wayeni Sea Robbers vs Ngove Masipala, Mninginisi All Stars vs Juluka Fair Play, Mtititi Squad vs JBFM All Stars and Mandla ku lova FC vs Giyani All Stars.
The four matches that will be played next Wednesday are Nyolosi FC vs Gajeni FC, Nkomo FC vs Dzekula Mighty FC, Homo Fighters vs Manchester United and MJO vs Nkomo Phunya.
This year's champions will take home a whopping R55 000 cash prize, a floating trophy, gold medals and a soccer kit. The final will be played on Saturday, 31 December.
