It all started in 2008 when a young girl, Mpho Beatrix Makosholo, was recruited by Univen Radio to present a teen programme called Teen Zone. She never looked back, and 17 years later, she has achieved remarkable success in radio.
Better known as Zazi, the Makwarela-born broadcaster from Sibasa is now at the helm of Radio Thohoyandou 91.7 MHz as its new station manager.
Zazi is no ordinary woman - she is also a passionate businesswoman and community builder. She is the founder of Zazi's Foundation and Zazi's Cleaning Agency.
Her future in radio became clear as early as 2008, when she was still in Grade 7. "It all started at Univen FM when I was just a little girl. I got an opportunity to be a radio presenter, and from that day onwards, I never looked back. It was the beginning of bigger and greater things in my career. From being a presenter at Univen FM, I moved to Kingdom FM, then Vuwani FM, and later Radio Thohoyandou. Now, I have finally made it to the top - I am the big boss, the new station manager at Radio Thohoyandou 91.7 MHz," she said with a smile.
A hardworking and determined professional, Zazi is confident she will do well in her new role.
"I am a go-getter who does not fear challenges. I am ready to bring change and take Radio Thohoyandou to the next level. I am a passionate and ambitious woman who wants to make a difference in the community. After all, radio is very close to my heart, and even as a station manager, I still host my show, the Afternoon Drive, from 15:00 to 18:00 on weekdays. I do this because I can't deprive my listeners of my sweet voice," she said.
She added that the station's management team had big plans for the future and thanked the loyal listeners for their continued support.
