Zoutpansberg Powerline FC won the Premjee & Son Stokvel Community Cup 2023, which was staged at the Mabaleng Sports Grounds in Tshiozwi this past weekend.
In the final clash, Zoutpansberg Powerline beat Mubva All Stars 5-4 on penalties, after the match ended in a 0-0 draw. Powerline reached the final by defeating Madodonga Pat All Stars 3-2 in another game that had to be decided via penalty shootout. Mubva All Stars had to defeat Hollywoodbets Mabaleng Development 2-1 to proceed to the final.
For their efforts, Zoutpansberg Powerline received R8,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals. The runners-up, Mubva All Stars, received R4,000 and silver medals. Consolation prizes were given to the other teams that finished in the top positions.
Representing the sponsors, the CEO of the Collins Sebola Group, Mr. Collins Sebola, said he was pleased with how the tournament had progressed. The event was organized by Mamu Community Development.
Mamu's general secretary, Jafter Mamugudubi, thanked all the companies that came in as co-sponsors alongside Premjee & Sons Cash and Carry to make the tournament possible.
