Adolf Mpho Mushidzhi, popularly known as Adolf Mr Thohoyandou and previously known as Mr Muledane, is currently the most talked about Venrap artist in the area - especially for the quality  of his sound, authentic lyrics and touching true stories.

“Music is the art form through which I am able to express my feelings without any difficulty,” he said. “I can't imagine the existence of this world without music. Music is timeless; it started from time immemorial.”

A resident of Thohoyandou Block J (Muledane), he started being involved in rap music around 2016 when he was only 16 years old. He recorded his first track, Muledane, which made him more aware of his musical talent.

“On my way to the top I met a lot of people such as Ty Domino, who helped me release my first mix tape, Ha ya ndi mathomo. In 2011, I started my own recording label, MTy'e Records, short for Music to Your Ears. I then recorded my second mix tape, entitled Lwendo lwo thoma, which did not only make me famous, but also placed me top on the local radio stations' lists with tracks such as Tondi (ft Bhamba & Mizo Phyll), and Angelly (ft Knova).”

He was signed by Mulambo Media in 2013, which did not work out well and later signed up with Manyisa Records. With them he made single hits for his first album, entitled Mbilu i kha dirwa, including anthemic tracks such as Masindi remix (ft Bhamba) and Kumvu Mulamboni. He then made waves on all radio stations in the Vhembe district and continued to receive countless gig bookings – all of which only showed his mounting popularity in the music industry.

“I decided to work on my own and so I had one single choice if I wanted escalated growth – to terminate the contract with Manyisa Records,” he said. “I recorded and released my next project in 2015 and managed to sell over 2 500 copies. I used the money to build my own recording studio at home. So far I have signed around 30 upcoming artists, among them Transformer, DGM Family, Knice, Peewayner, Jay-O and DJ Kestival.”

In December 2016, he released his second album, Munna Ndi Nnyi. The album is also doing well in the market. The track Tshimangadzo is dedicated to his mother, who passed on in March 2016. He also features his only little brother, Young Mulanga.

Adolf Mr Thohoyandou holds a diploma in metallurgical engineering from Tshwane University of Technology.

He can be reached on 071 4265 991. He is also on Facebook as Adolf Mr Thohoyandou.
