The Nambi dza Devhula Family Day Music Concert promises to be the mother of all festivals for 2018 in that it is an event hosted by the music co-operative for the artists.
The event takes place at Villarikhs Park in Tshikuwi village tomorrow (15 December).
The representative for Nambi dza Devhula, Mr Avha AJ Tshisevhe, said that they had decided to host a family music concert where the musicians and singers would have enough time to spend with the children.
“Event organisers often forget to cater for children, but we want to create that space for the children to enjoy music and spend quality time with their favourite singers and musicians,” Tshisevhe said. “We are offering a lot of fun playgrounds for the little ones, which also include interaction space for children with young and emerging singers.”
He added that the inclusion of more live bands in the line-up would create aversatile atmosphere about the event. “Live bands will be showcasing the true art of music,” he said. “Ntshenge and the Jah Live, whose performance has been missed for years, will have music lovers dancing and chanting along his lyrics.”
The line-up includes, among others, Malondolo, Zwido, Black Jahman, Khakhathi, Mariana, David Mmbi, Jah Lady, Just Ice, Ntshenge and the Jah Live, CornerStone, Mazwale, Constance Makhuvha, Tshinombeloni Family, Vho Sei, Mercy Masakona, Dzudzanani Receptors Band, Mariana, Shufflers, Solomon Mathase, Queen Zee, and Michael Jambo.
The gates open at 10:00. Tickets will be available at the gate and they sell at R20 (kids), R50 (adults), and R250 (VIP), and cooler-bag entries at R30.

The revival of Tshivenda traditional music is not just the pipe dream of some idealists. Judging by the turnout during a meeting held in Thohoyandou this past weekend, this form of music is about to undergo a major revival.
Tshivenda traditional-music lovers are in for a treat with a collaboration between Tshivenda traditional music legend and veteran Solomon Mathase and popular poet and guitarist Dzomo la Venda. The two were spotted on Saturday, 20 April, at a function in Thohoyandou where they showcased their talents during a live performance.
During a Sunday sermon, Bishop Johannes Muofhe of the World Mission Church’s Fondwe branch prophesied that a musician, someone other than a member of the worship team, would emerge from the church.
With a successful roots-reggae album titled “Shandukani” to his name, Fhatuwani Richard Mashele is quickly becoming a household name in South African music. Better known as Jah Saint in music circles, Mashele believes that success does not come overnight and that one must work hard to earn it.
