15 Years in jail for murder

A 34-year-old Zimbabwean man, who made newspaper headlines after stoning another man some two years ago, was sentenced to 15 years in the Thohoyandou High Court a fortnight ago.

Peter Nengovhela was jailed for stoning to death a well-known pot maker, Mr Tixaniso Thomas Manganyi (36), at Rathidili-fhasi-ha-bada, in Madombidzha. The incident happened in March 2013. Manganyi originally came from Mozambique.

People who arrived at the scene shortly after the accused had run away described him as a “heartless man” who “has no soul in his body”.

Tshilwavhusiku police's spokesperson, Const Munyadziwa Marindi, said that the conclusion of each case brought relief to the investigating team, the police station and the family of the deceased.
