No sugar daddy for this young beauty queen

One of the Miss Teen South Africa beauty pageant contestants, Tshepiso Mphidi, says young girls should refrain from dating “sugar daddies” because of peer pressure and focus on their education to be successful in life. Mphidi, who is from Haradali village, is going to compete in the national teenage beauty pageant to be held at the State Theatre in Pretoria on 16 December.

During an interview with Limpopo Mirror in Haradali village last Wednesday (15^th), Mphidi mentioned that, apart from the fact that her parents had brought her up in a very secure environment, she was against the concept that girls should go out with older men to receive gifts such as money, expensive phones, and even cars. She believes that reaching the top is possible only through hard work.

Tshepiso is currently in her third year at the University of Venda, where she is studying to become a professional social worker.

When asked if she envied girls who cruised around in luxury German sedans to campus, she stated that she was very focused on what she would like to achieve in life. “I don't even look at them and their cars. When the sugar daddy passes on, his wife will obviously come and take the car,” she said.

The Miss Teen South Africa beauty pageant aims to empower young ladies and develop the confidence they need to achieve their personal best. A confident girl is believed to have the power to make a real change, starting from her local community, with the potential to reach a global audience one day. The pageant encourages every girl to step out of their comfort zone, be themselves, and continue defining what being confidently beautiful means.

Mphidi is confident that she is going to do well in the beauty pageant. “Apart from representing Limpopo Province, I also want to put the Vhavenda people on the map,” she said.
