Mbilwi is yet again the best public school in Limpopo

The high-riding Mbilwi Secondary School in Sibasa, near Thohoyandou, has received the badge for the best school in the province because of its learners producing outstanding results on numerous occasions throughout the past few decades. On Friday, 19 January, the 2023 matric results were released, and Mbilwi did not disappoint.

The school principal, Mr Nyambeni Cedrick Lidzhade, said Mbilwi was regarded as one of the best schools in the country because many of their students graduated with bachelor’s degree passes. According to Lidzhade, his school produced 268 bachelor’s degree passes in 2023, with 32 learners achieving distinctions in all seven subjects, while others achieved 100/100 in maths and geography. He said he was happy that Mbilwi Secondary had also joined the elite Club 100, with a total of 462 learners who passed maths and science.

For a school to qualify as a member of the prestigious Club 100, it must produce 100 or more students who have passed mathematics and physical sciences at higher grade.

“The secret lies in starting to prepare a solid educational foundation in the lower grades (starting from Grade 8). We especially place an emphasis on maths and science. At Mbilwi, you hardly ever find learners lingering around during class periods. All learners must be in class as we take learning and teaching very seriously. The learners always work hard and teamwork from educators going the extra mile for them is what puts us at the top.”

Lidzhade said they had also received the blessing of the royal Mphaphuli clan, under Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli, who always visited the school and motivated the learners to take their education seriously.
