Awards for local achievers

The inaugural Front Seat Recognition Awards ceremony will be held at the Thohoyandou Indoor Sports Centre next Saturday (21 December).

The initiative is the brainchild of famous local comedian Livhuwani Madadzhe, also known as SABC Livhu in the entertainment industry.

Deserving community builders in the fields of sport, arts and culture, film industry, radio broadcast industry and music will be given awards.

Madadzhe said he was encouraged to start the initiative after realizing that many outstanding individuals were doing good for their communities, but they were not recognized by either their communities or big institutions. “This is a unique recognition initiative, which is rooted in the ordinary community members of our society who have never been recognized before.”

He added that nothing was more fulfilling than being honoured by one’s own people. “This is a people-centred initiative, driven by the will of the people themselves. When you recognize ordinary community members, it gives them a sense of belonging and courage to work hard for the benefit of their communities.”

He said he hoped to set a considerable standard for the proceedings during the awards ceremony. “Our organizing committee members and judges are highly experienced individuals who will add value to the success of the awards. When you start a new thing, you must strive to achieve the highest possible standards. Because this is an annual event, we will strive to achieve higher goals in the coming years than the previous events.”

Madadzhe thanked various sponsors for coming on board to make sure that the inaugural ceremony would be a success. “It is not easy to convince people to come on board when you start new things. I’m happy that we managed to convince our sponsors, who didn’t think twice before they came on board. We have no doubt that this will be one of the most talked about events on the calendar of Limpopo.”
