Leopards away to collect more points

It remains to be seen whether Black Leopards will continue from where they left off last Saturday, when they meet Stellenbosch FC at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

Leopards beat Witbank Spurs 1-0 at the Thohoyandou Stadium to keep their title hopes alive. It will be time for Black Leopards to exact sweet revenge for what Stellenbosch had done to them at the Thohoyandou Stadium four months ago.

Lidoda Duvha, who were leading 2-0 at one stage, lost 2-3 to Stellenbosch FC. It prompted the chairman of the club, Mr David Thidiela, to fire the team’s head coach, Mr Jairos Tapera. Both Leopards and Stellenbosch close contenders for the league title. The Thohoyandou outfit are in the second spot with 33 points, four ahead of Stellenbosch.

Leopards’ strikers, Mwape Musonda, Ivan Mahangwahaya and Leonard Ntshangase, will cause havoc for the defence of Stellenbosch if they are not well contained. The defenders of Leopards, Jean Munganga, Marks Munyai and Lebohang Mabotja, will have the mammoth task of stopping the Stellenbosch fast forwards, Eric Abrams, Johnson Martin and Velly Khumalo.

Leopards will be without their central defender, Thivhavhudzi Ndou, who was taken off the pitch on the stretcher in their home game against Witbank Spurs at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday.

Jomo Cosmos will travel to Emalahleni, where they will lock horns with Witbank Spurs at the Puma Rugby Stadium. Cape Town All Stars and FC Cape Town will fight for league points at the Parow Park Stadium in Cape Town.

Royal Eagles will host Santos at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg. Eagles are still in shock after losing 0-2 to Milano United last Saturday.

Mbombela United will host Amazulu, and the other fixtures are: Magezi FC vs Milano United, Real Kings vs University of Pretoria and Thanda Royal Zulu vs Mthatha Bucks.

Out because of injury: Leopards’ central defender, Thivhavhudzi Ndou.
