Leopards return to Thohoyandou Stadium

After several inspections and upgradings, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has finally given Black Leopards the green light to host their home games at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

The approval was announced after the club and the Thulamela Municipality had worked tirelessly to renovate the venue and ensure that it met the PSL standard requirements. Improvements were made on the pitch, floodlights, ablution blocks, technical benches, turnstiles, pavement around the stadium, and the hospitality and media areas.

Leopards’ spokesperson, Mr  Berry Ramunenyiwa, said that he was happy that the team would use Thohoyandou Stadium as their home ground. “It was great news to our fans and the team that the stadium is now suitable for PSL matches.” He expressed his appreciation for the hard work done by Vhembe District Municipality, Thulamela Municipality and other stakeholders. “Everyone worked hard and we would like to thank them for helping Leopards,” said Ramunenyiwa.

The Thulamela Municipality's spokesperson, Nndwamto Tshiila, applauded Vhembe residents who volunteered to help with the upgrades to the stadium, with some assisting with the painting of the grandstand. He said that the approval of the stadium would benefit the residents of Vhembe, the hawkers, the community and business at large.

Leopards' next fixture is against Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday, 16 September, at the Thohoyandou Stadium.
