Teams interested in participating in the Vhembe Vision Football Academy Tournament have until the end of this month to register. According to the organiser of the tournament, Mr Reginald Musetha, the first 32 teams to register will be eligible to take part in the annual tournament.
Mr Musetha, who also sponsors the tournament, mentioned that the opening matches for the tournament will be played on Saturday, 16 December, while the semi-final and final are scheduled for Sunday, 24 December. He appealed to the club owners not to give cash to any of the organisers; instead, they should pay their registration fee of R650 into the bank account provided during a general meeting held at the Dzimauli Tshakhumba Grounds three weeks ago.
According to him, this year’s champions will walk away with R15,000, a floating trophy, a soccer kit, gold medals, and a soccer ball. R10,000, a soccer kit, and a soccer ball await the team that finishes in the second position. The third-placed side will take home R8,000, a soccer kit, and a soccer ball, while a team that finishes in fourth place will receive R5,000, a soccer kit, and a soccer ball.
Mr. Musetha mentioned that the prizes would increase if they managed to secure more sponsors. Additionally, individual awards such as top goal scorer, player of the tournament, best defender, best midfielder, youngest player, best goalkeeper, fan of the tournament, most disciplined team, and the best referee will be presented.
