Mamvuka Young Movers win Top T

 

Mamvuka Young Movers received R10,000 as winners of the Top T Four Day Soccer tournament, along with soccer kit, gold medals, and a floating trophy. The prize-giving ceremony took place on 30 December at Mamvuka.

Mamvuka emerged victorious by beating Muraleni United Brothers in the tournament final. The match concluded in a goalless draw, and the winners were determined by a penalty shootout. Young Movers triumphed with five conversions against United’s four.

In recognition of their efforts, Muraleni United Brothers received a soccer kit, silver medals, and R6,000. The two teams that lost in the semi-finals, Mune Pumps and Matshavhawe Come to See, were each presented with a new soccer kit. Lucky Buasi of Brothers received two trophies for being the best player and midfielder of the tournament.

Top T’s manager, Mr Sam Maduwa, expressed his commitment to sponsoring the tournament in the coming years. He commended the organisation of this year’s tournament and emphasised that his sponsorship aimed to uncover new talent. “We are committed to carrying out the mandate of the South African Football Association to ensure that the game of football is fully developed in all corners of the Makhado municipal area. In the coming season, we will go all out to get sponsorships to run the tournament smoothly and make the teams happy at the prize-giving ceremony,” he said.

The chairperson of the Makhado Local Football Association, Mr. Freddy Phathela, conveyed his appreciation towards the sponsors. “I’m very proud that we have grown young people of real quality,” he said, expressing confidence that the tournament would produce future soccer stars.
