Former head coach of VFC still jobless

The former head coach of Venda Football Club (VFC), Mr Joel Masutha, may currently be without a job, but he is not desperate to find a new one. Masutha parted ways with VFC about four months ago because of the team’s poor performance in their first six league matches when they were in the second-last position on the log.

In an interview shortly after leaving VFC, Masutha mentioned that he had received calls from Motsepe Foundation and DStv Premiership clubs, inquiring about his availability to coach their teams. However, he stated that he needed some time with his family before considering a new job offer.

When contacted last week, the 51-year-old coach mentioned that he was attending a football coaching course in Emalahleni and would obtain a CAF Level C License upon completion. He stated that the demanding nature of the course made coaching a professional team challenging for him at the moment. He plans to consider new opportunities after completing the course, with the second and last phases finishing in April.

Masutha, also known as “The Prophet,” expressed openness to returning to VFC or Black Leopards if they presented a reasonable job offer. He emphasised that his personal relationship with VFC’s chairman, Mr Itani Munzhelele, remained intact, and only the employer-employee relationship had been affected when his contract was terminated.

Teams coached by Masutha over the years include Chippa United, Maccabi FC, and Pretoria Callies, in addition to VFC and Black Leopards.
