Battle of the Stars in Women’s League

Another normal weekend lies ahead for the teams affiliated with the Limpopo Stream of the Sasol Women’s League. Seven matches will be played at different venues throughout the province on Saturday, while only one is scheduled for Sunday.

All roads will lead to the Tshandama Grounds, where the much-awaited battle of the Stars between Tshandama Young Stars and Lacoste Morning Stars will take place. A quick glance at the lineups of Morning Stars and Young Stars shows that for Young Stars to contain Morning Stars will not be easy, although they will be playing in front of their home crowd. Morning Stars have reinforced their squad by acquiring the services of seven vastly experienced players: Anza Vhudziki, Thuso Masindi, Thelma Thovhogi, Mpilo Nkuna, Konanani Mukwevho, and the Seneke sisters, Mpho and Rinae.

The Stars from Shayandima have released seven players, including the team’s skipper, Musiiwa Ramaremisa. The other players who have parted ways with Morning Stars are Gumani “Mphela” Mulibana, Unarine Nembaleni, and Seun Livhuwani. Young Stars’ utility player, Mashudu “Mudagasi” Davhana, is expected to give the Morning Stars’ defenders a headache throughout the game.

Rodadau FC will fight for league points against Real Mighty Ladies at the Tshitungulwane Grounds outside Vuwani. Merwe United will undertake a journey to Phalaborwa, where they will play against Sealene Ladies at the Lulekani Stadium. Sinthumulekutama FC, who bought their Sasol Women’s League franchise from Two for Joy Ladies at the end of last season, will host Masakona Liberty Experience at the Makhitha Grounds.

University of Limpopo Ladies will entertain Dinaledi Ladies at the Oscar Mphetha Stadium in Turfloop. Mandebele Happy Fighters and Golden Diamond Ladies will fight for league points at the Groblersdal Stadium. Maindis Ladies will play against Kanatla Ladies at the Bungeni Stadium. The only match scheduled for Sunday will be between Marumo Gallants and FC 50 Stars United.
