Also included are applications for an atmospheric emissions licence (AEL) and a water-use licence application (WULA).

The community of Tovhowani, outside Malamulele, has been without a permanent ruler for the past 16 years. Since the passing away of incumbent Vhamusanda Vho Josias Langa Ramovha in 2009, regents have ruled the village successively. However, this era has come to an end. On Saturday, 9 December, the entire village gathered at Tovhowani Mulenzhe to witness the official installation of their new traditional leader, Dr Thomas Ramovha.

Women warned to be wary of sex predators

This follows two separate incidents at Vhulaudzi village, outside Louis Trichardt, on Saturday, 16 December, where two women were sexually assaulted.

IK practitioners in Limpopo get their appointment letters

During a recent indigenous knowledge systems (IKS) workshop, hosted by the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), the members of the pilot steering committee in Limpopo received their letters of appointment. The workshop, attended by various IK stakeholders in Limpopo, was held at the 2Ten-MGB Hotel in Sibasa on 22 April. The workshop was dubbed the recognition of prior learning (RPL) and follows the 2004 IKS policy that resulted in the IK Act of 2019.

The shootout ended in the deaths of eighteen suspects. It is not known whether any police officers were also fatally wounded in the shootout.

Vhamusanda Vho-Philamisevhe Dzivhuluwani Ramalivhana, the traditional leader of Makwarani outside Thohoyandou, has called on communities to become actively involved in the fight against land degradation and not to practise farming on unsuitable areas. Ramalivhana addressed communities falling under the Matangari Service Centre during the Department of Agriculture in Vhembe’s Land Care Day, which is focused on environmental awareness, held at Makwarani Primary’s school grounds on Friday, 10 March.
