This weekend will be a busy one for the teams affiliated with the Limpopo Stream of the Sasol Women’s League. After their 0-2 defeat to Lacoste Morning Stars at the Tshandama Makhithani Grounds last Sunday, Tshandama Young Stars face another challenge this weekend as they host Sinthumulekutama FC at the same venue on Saturday.

Musasenda Big Five emerged victorious in the Mogudie Soccer Tournament, defeating Gondeni Big Cat 4-3 in a penalty shootout to claim the trophy at the Khubvi Benjie’s Grounds on Sunday. With no goals scored during regulation time, the winner was determined through the dramatic shootout.

Stiff fines for MMK League teams

Marhavi FC was fined R14,000 for assaulting a referee, invading the field of play by their chairman, and assaulting an official from FC Basel. They were also found guilty of causing the match to be abandoned. Additionally, Marhavi forfeited three league points to Basel.

Well-known sports guru Mamba Nthangeni dies after a long illness

The well-known sports personality and former coach of Venda athletics and netball teams, Mr Mamba Patrick Nthangeni (69), passed away at the Phuluso Netcare Hospital in Polokwane on 21 April after a long illness. During his life, Nthangeni served as the coach of the Univen and Venda netball teams. He was also a coach at the former Finyazwananda Technical College, now known as Vhembe FET.
